I’m Jody, nice to meet you.

To say it simply, marketing is my jam.

I love exploring, defining, and executing. I really get excited about working with high-growth organizations, start-ups, and non-profits. Most of my clients know they need to “do marketing” but don’t have the time or energy (even if they have the know-how). I get it. I’d love to explore the opportunity of working together.

Origin Story

When I became a mom, my husband and I battled about a name for our first-born son. Matt, my husband, was set on having a name that had a reference to his first love of sports. I was on board but reluctant to have our son named after any athletes. I liked the name Jackson, so we settled on a compromise. Our son Beau Jackson Greene is named after the great Bo Jackson of course, which makes us all happy. When we were deciding on the name, we tried hard to think about any nicknames that might come with the name and how those could make our tiny little guy feel.

It wasn’t until a new nickname from a fellow 3-year old made me giggle so hard, I had to incorporate it into my new brand. My son’s class was learning Spanish and one smarty-pants made the connection to Beau and his last name of Greene. He started calling him Beau Verde and I just thought it was the sweetest thing. So Verde Marketing Communications was named.

That’s not really the origin though, of course, the company’s roots are much deeper than the name. As a career marketer, I have been both on the client-side and agency-side and found them both very exciting and satisfying. However, as a business owner over the years, having had several businesses myself, I am able to bring special insight to each position I’ve held and found my true passion in helping businesses grow. I can best help these businesses by becoming their outsourced Director of Marketing. I only take on 2-4 clients at a time.

About Me

I’m Jody. I’m originally from Oregon and an alumna of the College of Business at Cal State University San Marcos. Prior to launching Verde Marketing Communications, I most recently made an impact as Director of Marketing for Portland-based, Vetsource. I’ve held positions with titles ranging from Marketing Specialist (in my younger days) to Director of Brand Authority + Happiness Ambassador to Vice President and have enjoyed the benefits of working both on the agency- and client-sides of the marketing world, showcasing my ability to strategize and execute. I’m a natural leader and enjoy high-growth environments, building teams, and processes that impact businesses while maintaining company culture. As an entrepreneur, prior to launching Verde, I co-founded Chic CEO, a media company, which was named by Forbes as one of the top 10 entrepreneurial websites for women. In addition to my own blog, I’m honored to be a contributor for several other organizations, including Thrive Global and Entrepreneur. I love all things marketing, clever words, and pretty things.
